Yosemite National Park is a real treasure. Its beauty should be experienced in person, but if you can’t do that, the next best thing is probably these finely crafted timelapse videos from a duo of photographers. For their first one, which you can see below, they went to Half Dome’s summit and shot through the night. Here’s how they describe the experience: “Being on Half Dome that night felt like being on another planet, a smooth granite surface under our feet and endless space spinning overhead. The morning’s sunrise felt like the first proper sunrise we’d ever witnessed.”

The second video they made (lower down this page) is even more impressive in many ways, as they went deep inside the park to capture areas that only the most dedicated hikers can uncover. In total, they hiked more than 200 miles with 70 lbs packs full of equipment to bring back these images.

But first, here’s the Half Dome timelapse:

Here is the second video, this one showing a 200+ mile backpacking experience through Yosemite National Park captured by Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill (see their bio below). This project was shot over the course of 10 months.

Nature’s amazing, isn’t it? What always fascinates me are those night skies showing orders of magnitude more stars than could possibly be seen from a city where light pollution makes it all but impossible to distinguish anything but the brightest celestial bodies.
