All-Ukrainian Scientific-and-Practical Conference on ‘Current State and Issues of Higher Environmental Education in Ukraine’ was held on 28-29 March 2017. The event was supported by the International Association of University Environmentalists, the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO and the Coordination Board for ‘UNITWIN / UNESCO Departments’ Programme in Ukraine.

The conference was attended by teachers and researchers from Universities and other institutions of Ukraine located in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Kharkiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, and Sumy, which train professionals under the speciality of 101 “Environmental Science” as well as other specialities and subject areas. The current issues concerning regulatory, legal, educational and methodological provision for training environmentalists at the higher educational institutions of Ukraine, ways to improve quality of training in the field of Environmental Science, nature conservation and sustainable nature management, structure and content of environment-oriented courses under the conditions of transition to new standards of higher environmental education in Ukraine, and peculiarities of training environmentalists in the context of education for sustainable development were discussed.

Representatives of UNESCO Departments in Ukraine participated in the thematic session on ‘Principal Directions of Humanization and Greening for Higher Education in Ukraine.’

Developments of the international project 544524-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES “Qualifications Frameworks for Environmental Science at Ukrainian Universities” were discussed at the round table on ‘Implementation of Sectoral Qualifications Frameworks in Environmental Science.’
